A hidden gem of a destination! This little know area of northwest Mexico has an incredibly rich pre-conquest history as a crossroads between Meosamerican cultures and US Southwest. Equally impressive is the biodiversity, listed as an internationally recognized biodiversity hotspot. While the pine-oak habitat looks quite similar to Western US forests, Chihuahua adds nesting Thick-billed Parrots and Military Macaws!! We will explore hidden cliff dwellings, similar to Mesa Verde and southeast Utah but without the crowds. An inspiring trip!!
